Welcome To The Centre Of Excellence
Located 10.6414° N, 61.3832° W, more commonly known as 17a Macoya Road, Tunapuna, is home to the largest, multi-purpose indoor-outdoor event facility in Trinidad and Tobago known as The Centre of Excellence.
The idea for the facility was the brain child of Mr. Jack Warner, former President of CONCACAF, with its construction beginning in 1997.
Originally set to be the region’s prime multi-purpose training facility, it was designed to promote excellence in football whilst also focusing on the youth in the Caribbean, Central and North America region. The Centre was expected to contribute enormously to the development of all sport, with particular attention being paid to football in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Marvin Lee Stadium (ML Stadium) – was built and includes one full-sized playing field, two covered stands, along with uncovered spectator seating. This stadium is outfitted with wheelchair access and includes an enclosed, air-conditioned, executive president’s box, dressing rooms, washrooms, media facilities, an electronic scoreboard, night sport lighting and the bar court.
As time went along, there became a growing need for a venue which could host events of varying sizes – from international trade shows to one-on-one meetings.
The Centre of Excellence can boast of several event halls, a swimming pool complex, a state-of-the-art fitness center, The Garden Sanctuary, and The Cattleya Hotel.
Located just minutes away from the airport, away from all the traffic and bustle, you have your choice of cool, comfortable indoor facilities or breezy, tropical outdoor spaces.
Its largest multi-purpose space is the Bougainvillea Hall which can accommodate between 3,000 to 5,000 persons dependent on your choice of layout (seated, theatre, banquet or standing). This space is ideal for expositions, trade shows, corporate events and all large-scale entertainment functions.
The Torenia Hall is the third largest hall which can accommodate up to 1,200 persons. Complete with its own built in stage and portable bar spaces, this hall is ideal for weddings, graduations and corporate events.
Speaking of weddings, the Anthurium VIP Room may be the smallest event location, but it is cozy, with its own charm, beauty and elegance, which makes it an excellent choice for hosting bridal parties. This VIP room can be used as a stand-alone for intimate private functions or as a compliment to hosting your wedding at the Garden Sanctuary.
Car Parks are not necessarily just for cars! The Centre has got three of them all of which can easily be transformed into outdoor events of various sizes. These spaces have been used for concerts, fetes, car shows and even trade shows.
In addition to the above, the COE is home to a number of commercial ventures including beauty and barber salons, an intimate jazz lounge, wellness center and several administrative offices.
